Moving out of a Brentwood home
City Planning's SurveyLA report for the Brentwood-Pacific Palisades area found single-family homes from the 1920s through the 1970s in Craftsman, Period Revival, Ranch and Modern styles, some large estates, and an area of postwar apartment buildings on the old Westgate tract. A large house means more rooms, closets and stairs, so share the square footage and floor count when you book.
The coral trees on San Vicente Boulevard's median were planted in the late 1940s, after the Pacific Electric streetcar that ran there from 1906 to 1942 was removed. On moving day, plan where the van and the cleaner's car can stop legally, whether that is a driveway, a building space or a permitted street space.
If you rent, California Civil Code 1950.5 limits cleaning deductions to what restores the cleanliness the unit had when your tenancy began, for tenancies starting after January 1, 2003. You can request an initial inspection no earlier than two weeks before move-out, then schedule the clean after it to address anything listed.
Since April 1, 2025, California landlords who deduct for cleaning or repairs must photograph the home after it is returned and again after the work, and send the photos with the itemized statement. The clean needs an empty home with closets cleared and water and electricity on, or the service defaults to a deep clean.

If furniture or belongings are present, the service will default to a Deep Cleaning instead. Drawer interiors are not included in move-out cleaning and must be added on separately.
