Preparing for your clean

No need to clean before your cleaner arrives. Just clear countertops and floors so they can focus on cleaning, not working around clutter.

Before every clean

A little tidying gives your cleaner room to work.

Leave the dusting, scrubbing, and floor cleaning to your cleaner. The goal is to make surfaces easy to reach.

  • Clear countertops and tables

Put away food, papers, toiletries, and loose belongings on kitchen counters, bathroom counters, and tabletops. You don't need to wipe them down.

  • Pick up items from the floor

Put clothes, shoes, toys, and bags away. Keep walkways and the floors you want cleaned clear for vacuuming and mopping.

  • Leave the sink accessible

Put dishes away or load them into the dishwasher so your cleaner can reach the kitchen sink.

  • Empty cabinets if you booked interior cleaning

Remove everything from the cabinets being cleaned and put the contents somewhere safe, away from the cleaning area. Please have this done before your cleaner arrives.

  • Store valuables and fragile items

Put jewelry, cash, important paperwork, and delicate keepsakes in a safe place. Point out anything that needs special care.

  • Plan a comfortable spot for pets

Keep pets in a safe area away from the rooms being cleaned, and let your cleaner know where they are.

  • Confirm access and share priorities

Share entry, gate, and parking instructions before the visit. Let us know about priority areas, delicate surfaces, or rooms to skip.

Prep for your service

Choose the service on your booking, then follow these notes along with the checklist above.

Standard cleaning

  • Keep everyday surfaces accessible

Clear the counters, tables, bathroom surfaces, and floors you want cleaned. You can leave furniture in place.

  • Leave out fresh linens and trash bags

If you'd like your bed made with fresh linens, leave the clean set on the bed. Leave client-provided trash bags where your cleaner can find them.

  • Flag areas that need more than routine upkeep

If there's heavy grease, soap scum, or other buildup, contact us before the visit to check whether deep cleaning or an add-on is a better fit.

Deep cleaning

  • Make edges and corners reachable

Pick up loose items along baseboards, room edges, and around furniture so your cleaner can reach those areas.

  • Clear bathroom and kitchen work areas

Put away bottles, bath toys, countertop clutter, and loose items around the stovetop so your cleaner can reach surfaces with buildup.

  • Prepare any interior add-ons you booked

If you booked refrigerator, cabinet, drawer, or oven interior cleaning, empty that area beforehand and put its contents somewhere safe. These interiors and interior windows are separate add-ons, not automatically included in a deep clean.

An empty home

Schedule your move-in or move-out clean after belongings are removed and before the next move.

For this service, clearing counters and floors isn't enough.

The empty-home requirement

Property must be completely empty of all furniture and personal belongings

Before the visit

  • Remove furniture, boxes, personal belongings, and loose rubbish. Empty closets.
  • Arrange the cleaning after movers finish and before new furniture or boxes arrive.
  • Make sure water and electricity are on, and confirm entry and parking instructions.
  • If you booked interior cleaning add-ons, empty the refrigerator, cabinets, drawers, or oven being cleaned and put the contents somewhere safe.

If furniture or belongings are present, the service will default to a Deep Cleaning instead. Drawer interiors are not included in move-out cleaning and must be added on separately.

Extra cleaning time

Cleaners work within the allotted time for your booking. If your home is particularly messy or dirty and requires extra cleaning time, any additional time is billed at $75 per hour, per cleaner.

Heavy furniture and refrigerators

To avoid injury and liability, cleaners do not move refrigerators or heavy furniture. Areas behind these items are not cleaned unless you move them out of the way before the visit. If you'd like an area cleaned, please make it accessible in advance, and only move heavy items if you can do so safely.

Want to check what's included? See the cleaning checklist. Appliance interiors, cabinet and drawer interiors, and interior windows must be booked as add-ons, including for move-in/move-out visits.
