Should I book a clean before or after hosting?

Book before hosting if you want the home ready when guests arrive. Book after hosting if the main job is getting the home back to normal once everyone leaves. If guests are staying over or you are cooking a large meal, you may want both: one visit to prepare and one to reset.

Leave a buffer between the cleaning visit and your guests' arrival. That gives you time to set the table, put food out and check the rooms you care about most. Ascend serves all of Los Angeles. Request your preferred dates early and wait for confirmation before planning around a visit.

Which cleaning type fits a holiday clean?

Choose the service based on the home's condition, not just the occasion. Review the room-by-room checklist to see what each service covers.

The home is already kept up

Start with standard cleaning if the home only needs routine upkeep before guests arrive. Standard cleaning covers accessible surfaces, kitchen counters and sinks, bathrooms, dusting, vacuuming and mopping. Baseboards are not included in routine cleaning.

The home needs a seasonal reset

Ascend describes deep cleaning as the option for an occupied home that needs more than routine upkeep, such as a first visit or a seasonal reset. It adds baseboard and trim detail, accessible fixtures, kitchen-exterior degreasing and bathroom buildup removal. That detail is useful if guests will spend time in your kitchen, bathrooms and living areas.

Guests are staying over

If you want a guest bed made with fresh linens, leave a clean set on the bed before the visit. Making beds and changing sheets left out on the edge of the bed is on the standard and deep cleaning checklists. Tell Ascend which bedrooms and bathrooms guests will use so those rooms are part of the request.

Which add-ons matter before a holiday meal?

A standard or deep clean covers the outside of large appliances, the stovetop and cabinet fronts. These interiors are separate add-ons:

  • Oven interior
  • Refrigerator interior
  • Microwave interior
  • Cabinet and drawer interiors
  • Interior windows and tracks

If you plan to cook a big meal or need fridge space for guests, consider booking the oven or refrigerator interior before the event. Empty any interior you book and store its contents safely before the cleaner arrives. Interior hood and vent cleaning is not part of the checklist; the hood exterior is.

What should I book after a party or holiday gathering?

Describe the mess honestly when you request a visit. A home that just needs everyday surfaces, floors and bathrooms cleaned after guests leave usually fits standard cleaning. Grease on kitchen surfaces, buildup in bathrooms or a home that went without upkeep during a busy season may fit deep cleaning better.

Clear leftover food, dishes and party supplies from the areas you want cleaned. Cleaners work within the time booked. If a particularly messy or dirty home needs extra time, Ascend's preparation guide states that additional time is billed at $75 per hour, per cleaner. Extra time is not a promise that a cleaner can stay beyond the confirmed booking.

If a spill reached your carpet, house cleaning includes vacuuming, not carpet washing. Ascend arranges carpet steam cleaning and shampooing as a separate service. Describe the carpet and its condition so Ascend can confirm the method and quote.

How do I prepare the home before the cleaner arrives?

  • Put away loose items on counters, tables and floors you want cleaned.
  • Clear dishes out of the kitchen sink.
  • Leave fresh linens on any bed you want made, plus your own trash bags. Replacement trash bags are provided by the client.
  • Empty the oven, refrigerator or cabinets if you booked those interiors.
  • Store fragile decorations and valuables away from the work areas.
  • Share gate, entry and parking instructions, and keep pets away from the rooms being cleaned.

Cleaners do not move refrigerators or heavy furniture. If you want the space behind a sofa or sideboard cleaned before guests arrive, move it beforehand only if you can do so safely.

What does a holiday clean not include?

Holiday cleaning uses Ascend's regular service checklists, so the same limits apply:

  • General tidying and organizing, such as arranging pillows or putting belongings away, are not on the included checklist.
  • Cleaners do not move heavy furniture or refrigerators.
  • Upholstery and fabric washing are not included. Carpet steam cleaning and shampooing are a separate service.
  • Appliance, cabinet and drawer interiors, and interior windows, are add-ons rather than part of a standard or deep clean.

Questions about holiday house cleaning

Can I book a holiday clean at the last minute?

You can ask, but short-notice availability is not guaranteed. Read the guide to last-minute cleaning in Los Angeles for what to send with an urgent request. You can also call or text +1 (213) 319-5497.

Does a standard clean include baseboards before guests arrive?

No. Baseboard cleaning is included in deep and move-in or move-out cleaning, not routine cleaning. Book a deep clean if baseboards and trim matter for your event.

Will the cleaner set up the guest room?

The cleaner can make a bed with fresh linens you leave on the bed and clean the room according to the checklist. Arranging decor, folding blankets and organizing personal items are not on the included checklist.

How much does holiday house cleaning cost?

Ascend does not list a separate holiday rate on this page. Your quote depends on the service, the home's size and condition, and any add-ons. See house cleaning costs in Los Angeles for what affects the price, then confirm the quote before booking.

Can the cleaner stay longer if the party mess takes more time?

Cleaners work within the booked time. Additional time for a particularly messy or dirty home is billed at $75 per hour, per cleaner. Confirm any change in scope with Ascend rather than assuming a visit can run longer.
